Helping others make me happy! Below are some of my recent Community Service and Civic Engagement Experiences.
LITTLE FREE LIBRARY DESIGN & BUILD
-
I designed a little free library that incorporated a bird house, built with recycled materials with the help of my father.
-
I have been maintaining the Short Street Little Free library Charter #105979 which has been serving our neighborhood since October 10th, 2020.
UC BERKELEY NEIGHBORHOOD COLLABORATION
-
I coordinated the Short Street Neighbors in Berkeley to participate in neighborhood native planting day by passing out posters at their doors.
-
On the day of the event I collaborated with UC Berkeley Students to clean out the decades old Ivy as a part of the neighborhood reach out program.
-
I helped select and plant native plants that attract monarch butterflies.
-
I maintained the plants of the cul-de-sac and watered the plants during the dry season.
GIRLS ON THE RUN

-

ADVOCACY
-
May 2021 Initiated, organized, and led a group of my classmates to lobby the head of the Berkeley School to re-engage her classroom teacher whose contract was not being renewed.
-
I made posters, scheduled and led the meeting with head of school and invited her classmates.

#FREE SELMA
-
Coordinated classmates to submit paintings with # FreeSelma social media campaign to send to my 70 year old aunt Selma, who was held in captivity for 7 months as a prisoners’ rights activist in prison in Turkey.
-
Our inspiration cheered political prisoner women who are silenced for their activism. After Selma was released, me and my activist friends received hand braided bracelets from journalists, and political activists from inside the prison. Reference Washington Post article regarding Selma and the campaign.

ASHOKA JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT
-
As an Ashoka Junior I participated in helping the homeless in Berkeley by creating food drive and preparing personal care packages and gaining visibility for the Berkeley Homeless Shelter
-
I was recognized by my peers and teaching team for Leading Positive Change Through Empathy and Action
